GST Calculator

Add GST to a price, or work backwards from an amount that already includes it. Shows the CGST and SGST split you need on the invoice.

Which way round are you calculating?

Two different questions get confused constantly, and they give different answers on the same number.

Adding GST is for when you have your price and need to know what to put on the invoice. Rs 10,000 of work at 18% becomes Rs 11,800.

Removing GST is for when someone paid you a round figure that already includes tax and you need to split it for your books. Rs 10,000 received at 18% is not Rs 10,000 plus Rs 1,800 — it is Rs 8,475 of value and Rs 1,525 of GST. Getting this backwards is one of the most common errors in a first year of filing, and it quietly overstates your turnover.

CGST and SGST split the tax in half when buyer and seller are in the same state. Billing outside Madhya Pradesh, the same total goes as IGST in a single line instead of two.

Common questions

Most professional and consultancy services are 18%. Goods vary widely, and a wrong rate on an invoice becomes a correction you have to file later. If you are not certain, send us what you sell before you raise the invoice.

No. It is a working-out tool. Filing needs your GSTIN, invoice records and the correct return form for your registration type. That is the part we handle.

If you are registered and the purchase is for the business, usually yes, through input tax credit — but the credit only survives if your supplier has actually filed. That reconciliation is a monthly job, and it is where most credit gets lost.

A number is not a filing

This tool gives you the figure. Getting the filing right — the correct form, the documents, the deadline, the department — is the part that costs people money when it goes wrong. Send us your case and we will tell you what actually applies to you.
