DSC for MP Online Kiosk Registration
MP Online kiosk operators sign applications on behalf of citizens all day. That signature has to be a valid Class 3 certificate in the operator's own name.
Why the certificate has to be yours
A kiosk operator is signing applications that other people rely on. The certificate is issued in the operator's own name and the responsibility that comes with it is personal — whatever is signed with it is legally signed by you.
That has a practical consequence worth stating plainly: do not let anyone else use your token. Not staff, not a relative helping out on a busy day. If something is submitted wrongly under your signature, the record shows you signed it, and there is no technical way to demonstrate otherwise afterwards.
For a working kiosk the certificate is not an occasional formality, it is daily infrastructure. When it expires, the kiosk stops. That is worth a calendar reminder a month out rather than a scramble.
How you get it, and how fast
A Class 3 DSC is issued against your identity, so the process is the same whichever portal you need it for. What changes is whether it is issued in your personal name or in the organisation's name with you as the authorised signatory — and getting that wrong is the most common reason a certificate has to be reissued.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Tell us the portal | We confirm whether you need an individual or organisation certificate, and with or without encryption |
| 2. Documents | PAN, Aadhaar, photo, email and mobile. Organisation certificates also need the entity's registration proof and an authorisation letter |
| 3. Video KYC | A two-minute recorded verification. This is a certifying authority requirement, not ours |
| 4. Issue | Usually the same day once KYC is done, often within about two hours |
| 5. Token | Loaded onto a USB crypto token, which you collect from our Bhopal office or we courier |
Certificates are normally issued for one, two or three years. Buying a longer validity costs less per year and saves you repeating the KYC, which matters if you bid regularly.
What goes wrong
- Expiry with no warning. A kiosk with an expired certificate cannot process anything. Renew before the date, not on it.
- Sharing the token. Covered above — it is the risk operators most often take without thinking about it.
- Name mismatch with the kiosk registration. The certificate name and the registered operator name must agree.
- Driver and browser problems after a Windows update. Common, fixable, and not a reason to buy a new certificate. Ask us before you do.
Written 5 September 2026. Government portals change their requirements without much notice — if you are reading this later, message us and we will confirm what applies today.
Documents
- Individual certificate: PAN, Aadhaar, a passport photo, and an email and mobile you can access during verification
- Organisation certificate: the above for the authorised signatory, plus the entity's PAN, its registration document (incorporation certificate, partnership deed, GST certificate as applicable), and a signed authorisation letter on letterhead
- The name on the DSC must match the name registered on the portal exactly. A mismatch between a certificate reading one form of a name and a portal registration reading another is what causes signatures to be rejected at upload
