Chhattisgarh PWD Contractor Registration

Contractors working across the MP and Chhattisgarh border often register in both. The structures are similar enough to be familiar and different enough to catch you out.

Why contractors register in both states

Chhattisgarh separated from Madhya Pradesh in 2000, and a great many contractors still work on both sides of the border. Registering in the second state is usually not about relocating — it is about being able to bid on work that is geographically close but administratively elsewhere.

The registration works on the same broad idea as MP: contractors are graded into classes, and the class decides the value of work you may bid for. Higher classes need more turnover, more completed work of the right kind, and more evidence of machinery and technical staff. Lower classes exist so new contractors have somewhere to start.

What differs is the detail — the documents each class asks for, the thresholds, the departmental process and the portal. A contractor who assumes their MP paperwork will simply transfer usually finds a gap.

What generally decides your class

FactorWhat it means in practice
Financial capacityTurnover and solvency, evidenced by audited accounts and a bank solvency certificate
Completed workWorks of a similar nature and value, evidenced by completion certificates from the department that awarded them
Technical staffQualified engineers on your rolls, with proof of employment
MachineryOwned or leased plant appropriate to the class, with ownership documents
Registration and tax statusFirm registration, PAN, GST, all current and consistent

The one contractors underestimate is completion certificates. Work you did but cannot evidence does not count towards a higher class, in either state. If you are planning to register in Chhattisgarh, start collecting certificates for your MP work now rather than at application time.

Doing this from Bhopal

We are in Bhopal and most of this is document work rather than presence work — assembling audited accounts, solvency certificates, completion certificates, staff and machinery proof into the form the department wants, and getting it submitted correctly.

Where physical presence in Chhattisgarh is genuinely required, we will tell you plainly rather than imply we can do it all remotely. What we will not do is promise a class you do not qualify for — the department checks the evidence, and an application that overreaches comes back rejected with the fee spent.

Common questions

No. They are separate state departments with separate registers. Your MP work history helps your Chhattisgarh application as evidence, but the registration itself has to be made afresh.

The highest one your evidence genuinely supports. Applying above it wastes the fee; applying below it limits what you can bid on for the whole registration period. Send us your turnover and completion certificates and we will tell you where you actually sit.

The department's processing time is theirs, not ours. What we control is that the application goes in complete, because incomplete applications are the main cause of delay.

Yes — that is our main line of work, and most clients registering in Chhattisgarh are already registered in MP.

Send us your case

Tell us your MP class if you have one, your turnover, and what completed work you can evidence. That is enough for us to tell you which Chhattisgarh class is realistic.
