What a Proprietorship Actually Needs
There is no single certificate that registers a proprietorship. What you need depends on what your business does, and some businesses need almost nothing.
Why there is no proprietorship certificate
A proprietorship is not a separate legal entity. It is you, trading under a name. There is no registrar, no incorporation, and no certificate that says the firm exists.
So when someone says they will register your proprietorship, ask what specifically they are registering. The honest answer is a set of registrations that each exist for their own reason — and you may not need all of them.
This is the part where a consultant selling a bundle and a consultant giving advice give different answers.

The bank account is what forces the order
Most proprietors discover the sequencing at the bank. A current account in the firm's name usually needs two documents showing the business exists in that name, and Udyam plus GST or Shop and Establishment is the usual pair.
So if a current account is the goal, start with the two cheapest registrations that satisfy your bank, and check with the branch before applying rather than after.
