What a Digital Signature Costs
Six things decide the price, and the cheapest quote is usually the one that has left something out. Here is what to check before you compare.
Why nobody can quote you a DSC price in one line
Because “a DSC” is not one product. What you pay depends on six things, and until someone knows all six, any figure they give you is going to change later.
That is worth knowing before you ring round comparing prices, because the cheapest quote is usually the one that has left something out. Here is what actually moves the number.
The six things that decide what you pay

Why we do not publish a rate card
We could put a number on this page. Most sites do. We do not, and the reason is simple: a single published price for something with six variables is either padded to cover the worst case, or quoted low and revised upward once you are in the conversation.
Both are worse than asking. What we will commit to is the shape of the answer — in writing, itemised, government fees separate from our fee, usually the same working day. No verbal figure that moves, and nothing appearing on the final bill that was not in the quote.

Comparing quotes — four things to check
- Is the token included? A quote without the token looks cheaper and is not. Ask directly.
- Signing only, or signing and encryption? The gap between these is large. Two quotes for ‘a Class 3 DSC’ may not be for the same thing at all.
- How many years? A one-year quote against a two-year quote is not a comparison. Work out the cost per year.
- Who handles it if something goes wrong? Rejections happen. Ask before paying what happens then, and get the answer in writing. Ours: where a rejection is our error, we redo it at our own cost.
One more thing worth knowing: paying more does not buy a better certificate. Every CCA-licensed authority issues the same thing, and no portal asks which one it came from — see choosing a certifying authority.
Where you can genuinely spend less
Buy longer validity. Three years costs less per year than one, and removes two renewals from your life. For anyone filing monthly or bidding regularly this is the whole saving.
Do not buy what you do not need. An individual buying one flat does not need a digital signature at all — the sub-registrar handles it. Neither does most Udyam registration. We would rather tell you that than sell you a certificate.
Do not let it expire. A lapsed certificate cannot be extended, so the whole cost repeats — usually in a hurry, on a deadline. See what happens when your DSC expires.
