Schools sign submissions on behalf of students and staff. That signature is personal, and it belongs to whoever the institution has authorised.

The responsibility that comes with it

School administrators verify and forward scholarship applications, staff records and institutional submissions. Where a portal requires a digital signature, the certificate is issued in an individual's name — usually the principal or an authorised administrator — and what is signed with it is signed by them personally.

That is worth pausing on in a school setting, because the token often ends up in an office where several people work. Anything submitted with it is legally submitted by the named person. For submissions that affect students' scholarships and records, that is a responsibility worth keeping in one pair of hands.

If the institution is run by a society or trust, check whose name the portal expects — the institution's authorised signatory is not always the same person as the day-to-day administrator.

How it works and how fast

A Class 3 certificate is not tied to one portal. Registering it against each portal you use is a separate step, but you buy the certificate once.

What goes wrong

Certificate in the administrator's name when the society signs. The same trap as CBSE affiliation. Check the portal's expectation first.
Token shared across the office. Convenient, and it means several people can sign as one person.
Expiry during an application window. Scholarship windows close on fixed dates and do not reopen for a certificate problem.
Principal changes and nobody updates the portal. The outgoing person's certificate cannot be transferred; the incoming one needs their own.
