GeM Seller Performance and the Caution List
On GeM your record follows you. Non-delivery and quality failures affect what you can win next, and in serious cases end your ability to sell at all.
Why the first order matters more than it looks
A new seller's instinct is to accept whatever order comes, to get started. That is exactly the wrong instinct if you cannot deliver it on time and to specification.
Government buyers record what happens. Late delivery, non-supply and quality rejections attach to your record, and a poor record affects future opportunities well beyond the order that caused it. In serious cases sellers are put on a caution list or debarred.
So the discipline is boring and it matters: only list what you can actually supply, and only accept what you can actually deliver in the timeline stated.
What protects your record
- List only what you can supply. A catalogue full of items you cannot fulfil is a liability, not reach.
- Read the delivery timeline before accepting, not after.
- Match the specification exactly. Close enough is a rejection, and rejections attach to your record.
- Keep stock and price current. Orders against stale listings are how sellers end up unable to fulfil.
- Communicate early if something slips. A delay raised in advance is handled differently from a delivery that simply does not arrive.

If your record is already damaged
Establish what is actually recorded against you rather than assuming. Sometimes what looks like a performance problem is an administrative one — a delivery made but never recorded as accepted, for instance, which is a different fix entirely.
Where the underlying facts are against you, we will say so. Representation helps where there is a genuine explanation; it does not rewrite what happened.
